- Develop and optimize procurement strategies for direct commodities and streamline strategic sourcing strategies.
- Lead category evaluation and strategy development through data driven analysis in a manufacturing environment.
- Contribute to buying decisions and business needs assessments to align with overall purchasing strategy.
- Participate in the capital procurement process for plant-specific capital projects.
- Identify consolidation opportunities with suppliers to secure the lowest cost of materials, considering safety, quality, sustainability, reliability, and urgency.
- Mitigate supply risk by establishing backup suppliers for critical spend categories.
- Negotiate and sourcing contracts with suppliers.
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, and pricing.
- Proactively identify and lead cost-saving projects.
- Manage RFQ & RFP processes, including interviewing suppliers, recommending sources, and analyzing quotations to prepare recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related major
- Minimum 7 years of direct professional procurement experience with commodity management experience preferred
- ERP experience including SAP, JD Edwards, etc
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and organization skills
- Ability to plan and prioritize a wide variety of activities
