    The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Human Research Administrator or Senior Human Research Administrator, UNLV Research Integrity Administrative (Remote Optional) [R0142303]

    ROLE of the POSITION

    The university has achieved the Carnegie Foundation/Highest Research Activity (R1) classification for research activity. The quantity and quality of research projects have escalated to meet this challenge.

    University researchers must be in compliance with federal and state laws and university policy to comply with the Assurance (license) granted by the federal government.

    This position exists to enable compliance with human research ethics requirements for the UNL V research community.


    Human Research Administrator (IRB Administrator): This position is responsible for the successful maintenance of the record-keeping, review, and revision component of the Institutional Review Boards (IRB) function as required by the federal government.

    Activities include documentation of detailed minutes, detailed record-keeping, and interaction with faculty and student researchers through IRB review and requested revisions.


    Senior Human Research Administrator (Senior IRB Administrator): As a senior IRB administrator, the incumbent serves as a primary administrator for the UNLV IRB(s).

    The senior IRB administrator routinely interfaces with the IRB and other faculty concerning review of human subjects research protocols.

    This position will conduct initial review of protocols to make a determination of risk level to ensure welfare of human participants in research is safeguarded and to comply with processes, federal guidelines, and the welfare of research participants.

    Duties include calling meetings of the IRB, providing a list of IRB protocols with initial assessment of potential risks, and communication of review board questions and decisions to research faculty and students regarding their submitted protocol.


    The senior IRB administrator also communicates federal regulation and policy as it relates to the standards set forth within the Common Rule to insure UNLV's IRBs meet all requirements for an informed compliance review.

    The same information must be communicated to research faculty to ensure that they include all relevant compliance information as it relates to federal regulatory requirements concerning the protection of human subjects in research.

    The senior IRB administrator is responsible for ensuring the research faculty, students, and personnel as well as the IRB are informed as to the language, guidelines and policies impacting their protocol and the overall compliance.


    NOTE:

    This position will work remotely from anywhere in the United States, however local candidates have the option to work in person, if preferred.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    For Human Research Administrator applicants:

    This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3 years working as an IRB Administrator.


    For Senior Human Research Administrator applicants: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 5-7 years working as an IRB Administrator.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    For Human Research Administrator applicants: 5 years working as an IRB Administrator and Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification preferred (within 1 year from hire)

    For Senior Human Research Administrator applicants: Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification preferred (within 1 year from hire)

    SALARY

    For Human Research Administrator applicants:
    $64,000-$70,000, dependent on experience.

    For Senior Human Research Administrator applicants: $73,000-$80,000, dependent on experience.
