    Description

    **IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL RESIDE WITHIN 40 MILES OF TANNER, AL**

    This position is responsible for providing the necessary leadership to the dock and sub assembly groups of the Weld Dock Operation, consisting of Team Leaders and Team Members. This position will rotate between shifts every four weeks, and work overtime as needed.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage Team Leaders and will be responsible for the overall dock material handling and assembly operations.
    • Ensure compliance with the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing System procedures and train and develop team leaders and team members on proper procedures.
    • Ensure company (Carter Express & Customer) policies and procedures and administer fairly and consistently.
    • Facilitate good communications with team leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolutions.
    • Facilitate good communications and reporting to customer as their process dictates
    • Ensure that customer standards are being met and verify that daily customer shipments and receipts are correct and 100% on time.
    • Must be able to effectively plan and manage manpower requirements to ensure efficient operations.
    • Responsible for ensuring accurate payroll reporting and controlling manpower and overtime budgets per company and department planning.
    • Must be able to successfully lead and function within a team environment and be able to identify and promote changes for improvement activities through team leading and organization.
    • Must be able to develop and maintain standardized work instructions for all material handling and sub-assembly processes.
    • Responsible for implementation and follow up of countermeasure activities related to customer and/or department issues.
    • Effectively resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Receptive of training and performing functions in multiple areas.
    • Participate in a teamwork atmosphere and contribute to various continuous improvement projects and processes with both Carter Express and or customer teams.
    • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
    • Responsible for proper waste disposal and any and all other activities associated with the Environmental Management System.
    • Lead improvements activities for quality, delivery, cost and safety objectives and will support continuous improvement through Kaizen.
    • Responsible for identifying needs and training and development for department team members.
    • Responsible for maintaining dock and sub-assembly efficiencies and team measurables through lean manufacturing principles, human resources planning, and flexibility.
    • Facilitate good communications with team leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolutions.
    • Will plan and facilitate new and existing associate training.
    • Must be able to assure quality of product including confirmation of shipment via dock audit, yard audit and product sorting as necessary, etc.
    • Responsible for 5s activities.
    • Will coordinate activities with other Group Leaders and other shifts and departments.
    • Ensure PM schedule is followed properly and train when necessary.
    • Help develop and improve skill level of all associates, specifically direct reports.
    • Maintain safety and address concerns immediately.
    • Must ensure that all safety procedures and practices are implemented and followed.
    • Responsible for covering Team Leader absences as necessary.
    • Must complete all necessary production reporting and required paperwork.
    • Must have ability and willingness to fill in on jobs if necessary.
    • Communicate effectively with others using both oral and written communication skills.
    • Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as required.

    EDUCATION:

    High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree and/or five (5) or more years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably the automotive industry.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Must have prior experience in high volume material handling, preferably in the automotive industry. Three (3) plus years in supervision strongly preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to understand and operate material handling equipment safely and knowledge of projection and spot welding. Must possess a strong problem-solving aptitude and ability to apply problem solving strategies to improve processes. Knowledge of shipping and receiving operations preferred.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This job will focus upon the direction of work activities and will be responsible for direct management / supervisory duties affecting hourly associates in our customers facility.Must ensure all customer and Carter Express defined safety, processes, schedules are followed by all team members.

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    Must have working knowledge of PC applications and cognitive ability to learn customer software application(s). Will be required to attend training and conduct training as necessary.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This position is required to work in manufacturing environment facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving material handling equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to spot weld and or projection weld fumes. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
