ResponsibilitiesThis
Director of Business Operations
is a senior leadership role, reporting to and working directly with Community Sciences Vice President of Consulting to develop and achieve the organizations operations strategy, goals, and action plans, and to facilitate operational alignment between Community Science and its parent company, BCT Partners, LLC.
The incumbent will be navigating change and integration between separate yet similar organizations, each committed to equity and social justice.
Director of Business Operations
will be responsible for the integration of several business functions, including business development and marketing, operations, employee engagement and community building, quality assurance and deliverable support, finance, and vendor management.
Coordinating with Community Sciences leadership, as well as BCTs operations, finance, and HR functions, the incumbent will lead integration and act as a conduit between functions to facilitate communication, align objectives and streamline workflows, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
The goal of this role is to facilitate the growth of Community Science by optimizing operational performance, ensuring Community Science can maximize its potential, creating a scale model for the future, and effectively integrating with BCT.
You are an experienced leader who has a track record of success with implementing relevant organizational systems in small businesses, preferably professional services companies.
Your experience managing operations at a matrix-based consulting firm or research and evaluation firm is a definite plus.You have a strong understanding of social entrepreneurship and experience with federal, philanthropic and/or non-profit contracting.
Your leadership, strategic and operational approaches align with the needs of a for-profit company whose bottom line is advancing equity and social justice.
You have at least 5 years of experience working in a leadership role, leading, managing and integrating operational strategy and processes across functions and effectively managing change.
You have experience developing and managing operational budgets, overseeing financial reporting and controls, and the allocation of indirect expenses as compared to project work.
You ensure labor and expenses are properly accounted for and billed to clients, you facilitate and lead monthly project portfolio meetings and manage practice area profitability margins.
Your experience identifying and coordinating staff training, supporting employee engagement and staff recognition will ensure the expansion of Community Sciences technical and managerial capabilities, as well as culture and community building.
You rely on metrics to identify needs and demonstrate progress and leverage your experience implementing data driven measures to increase efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and success rates.
You effectively manage records, documents, and other materials, and ensure the quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of vendors, in alignment with business objectives and standards.
You are a highly skilled strategic thinker and planner, with the proven ability to anticipate and solve problems, develop, and execute action plans, and deliver results on time.
You are a role model for effective time management, process management, written and spoken communication, collaboration, leadership, and relationship building.

Salary and BenefitsCommunity Science offers a competitive total compensation package that, for this position, includes base pay with an annual target between $165,000 and $175,000 (based on qualifications), along with a comprehensive benefits program.
Community Science's benefits include health, dental, prescription drug and vision plans; retirement plan with company match; paid vacation, sick leave and holidays; opportunities and an extensive professional development program that includes funding and other opportunities.
Community Sciences' headquarters is located on the East Coast, though our staff can be found in all four Continental US time zones.
While Community Science values and supports a remote work environment, and this is considered a remote position, the ideal candidate will reside within commuting distance of Bethesda, MD.
Therefore, employees are required to be in the office at least once per quarter for 2 to 3 days of collaborative activities.
