Overview

Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented
_Scientific Content Editor _to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Office of the Director (OD), Office of Science Management and Operations (OSMO) (OSMO),Technology Transfer and Intellectual property Office (TTIPO)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans and materials to be used both internally and externally to communicate about technologies available for licensing and partnering and technology transfer success stories.
  • Write for scientific and business journals about technology transfer activities including technologies available for partnering and licensing and successes associated with the transfer of technologies from the NIAID and the CDC to the commercial sector resulting in public health benefits.
  • Prepare articles for newsletters about technology transfer topics targeted at scientific business development officials and researchers and others.
  • Develop slide presentations and posters for annual and other meetings of professional societies related to technology transfer.
  • Draft award nominations about technology transfer successful stories and coordinate review and submission to professional societies.
  • Work with NIAID Office of Communications and Government Relations (OCGR) on expanding the range of technology transfer related publications on various traditional and digital platforms.
  • Develop writing plans for NIAID Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO), including assistance in the preparation of papers and reports, collect and extract data, assemble reference materials, summarize key points, prepare figures and tables, assist in writing and proofreading, and maintain interactions with publishers.
  • Prepare new content for NIAID newsletter and NIH Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) newsletter.
  • Prepare new content for NIAID TTIPO annual reports and NIH annual reports.
  • Prepare new content and coordinate edits/updates to existing content on TTIPO websites.
  • Prepare new technology transfer related materials and NIAID partnership resource information for use by TTIPO, including materials for placement on TTIPO's internet site and materials for conference kiosks. Support TTIPO staff and inventors to develop webinars or short videos to advertise NIAID inventions. Assist TTIPO staff in their invention commercialization efforts by shaping technology transfer related narratives in a businessfriendly way. Develop and maintain responses to media and congressional enquiries relating to TTIPO's activities and work as TTIPO's communications point of contact with NIAID OCGR.
  • Expand transNIAID, NIH, and other agency cooperation and collaboration for the development of NIAID's intramural inventions. Develop TTIPO social media communication and outreach plans, develop content for social media outlets. Use and maintain accounts on behalf of TTIPO on various social media communication forums like twitter, LinkedIn, TTIPO website and others.

Experience Required / Requirements

  • Two (2) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Business, Communications, or other related discipline.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of project management experience and expertise.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a business environment conducting webbased marketing, social media, web design and/or programming.
  • Working knowledge of web design and the development of popular blog/CMS frameworks (WordPress, Drupal, etc.)
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of and the ability to use various programs such as SharePoint, Teams; experience with databases in order to quickly master training to access, input and retrieve documents and information from NIH's Enterprise Technology Transfer system (ETT).
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
