Job Description
Job DescriptionJob Description-Accounting Assistant performs accounting operations, such as reconciliation, analysis, and review. Position is responsible for generating reports. This position works with the PeopleSoft financial system, ECHO Sign system, and Microsoft Office on a regular basis, as well as providing good customer service. Must possess professional communication skills, both written and verbal, and a high level of comprehension. Must comply with all applicable University, USG, and State of Georgia policies and procedures.
Job Duties-
· Manage the flow of check request, travel authorities, and other documents.
· Perform reconciliations for general ledger accounts
· Verify the accuracy and validity of accounting transactions posted to the general ledger; prepare correcting journal entries when necessary
· Monitors and maintains accurate records, databases, and other documents to support the University Operations
· Other duties as assigned
Preferred Requirements-
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
· Experience in an Accounting environment- Knowledge of established accounting principles, methods, practices and terminology used in financial/accounting and statistical recordkeeping work
· Ability to use Micosoft Suite (Ex. experience with performing pivot tables & pivot reporting, vlookups, etc.)
· Governmental / Higher Education Accounting a plus
