    Role/Title: Field Service and Product Testing Engineer / Technician

    Hire: Temp to Full-Time with Benefits

    Location: Sodus, NY 14551

    Position Summary:

    Dynalec is seeking an experienced Field Service and Product Testing Engineer / Technician. The individual selected for this position will provide remote (i.e., network- or telephone-based) and on-site product support for Dynalec customers and end-users at various locations throughout the U.S., and will also assist with factory testing of Dynalec equipment as it is manufactured. In these roles, the selected individual will be a member of the Quality Assurance team, with strong support from the product engineering department.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The Field Service and Product Testing Engineer / Technician will provide the following types of on-site support in various combinations (as specified in customer statements of work or purchase orders):

    • On-site initial equipment light-off pre-checks, including verification of proper wiring, cabling, and power hookup
    • Initial hardware / software / firmware configuration and verification
    • Assistance with initial operational verification and testing of Dynalec products and systems
    • Troubleshooting, problem classification (i.e., customer responsibility or Dynalec responsibility) and problem resolution

    During periods when field service support is not required, the selected individual will gain product familiarity and technical expertise by working as a member of the Product Test group. This group is part of the Dynalec Quality Assurance department, and is responsible for the testing of all Dynalec-manufactured items such as circuit boards, assemblies and sub-assemblies, and end-item products in various categories including amplifiers, loudspeakers, alarm systems and various types of shipboard communications systems and terminals.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability and willingness to travel an average of 2 weeks per month
    • Associates degree in Electronics (Bachelor's degree preferred), or equivalent experience
    • Ability to work through problems independently at customer locations (with remote engineering support) in a manner that reflects positively on Dynalec
    • Ability to explain technical issues to customers with varying levels of technical understanding
    • Ability to effectively communicate with internal engineering and production personnel
    • Testing and troubleshooting of complex analog and digital electronic equipment and systems
    • Troubleshooting electronic products down to field replaceable component level
    • Test system setup and training
    • Read and interpret schematic diagrams of analog and digital circuits for troubleshooting
    • Navy shipboard electronics system familiarity and experience a plus
    • Active Security Clearance a plus
    • Ability to pass background investigations (as needed for access to Navy locations) is required

    Preferred Additional Skills:

    • Strong oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in common office software used for generating white papers, trip reports, basic financial analysis / expense reporting, email, and presentations
    • Willingness to train and mentor new employees, and to learn (and encourage others to learn) new skills in order to take on additional duties and responsibilities.
    • Possess excellent organizational skills and have a good understanding of the basic math skills necessary for performance tracking and analysis.
    • Demonstrate good electronic system repair skills, including the ability to repair wiring, connectors, circuit boards, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
    • Demonstrated or documented electronic soldering experience: Navy Micro-Miniature Repair (2MR) or IPC J-STD-001 certifications preferred; IPC soldering training and certification is available to Dynalec employees.
    • Willing and able to follow and enforce company policies, setting an example for employees.

    Physical Activity Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
    • Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 30lbs

    Pay Rate: $30.00 to $40.00 depending on qualifications.
