    Description

    The Family Center (TFC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing behavioral and mental health services, as well as social and legal support, to families facing challenges due to illness, crisis, and loss. The organization has been a pioneer in developing programs and conducting research to assist vulnerable individuals and families in New York.

    The Family Center is currently seeking a Full-Time Behavioral Health Therapist to deliver evidence-based treatment to help adult and pediatric clients achieve their life goals. The Therapist will collaborate closely with the Behavioral Health Care team, managing a caseload of 25-30 individuals and families. The Behavioral Health Services Department at TFC serves a yearly population of over 500 adults and children/youth.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions for adults and children, including those with co-occurring disorders
    • Ensure that care aligns with trauma-informed best practices
    • Implement evidence-based treatment models according to established protocols
    • Screen, assess, and diagnose clients to develop personalized treatment plans
    • Participate in reflective supervision sessions to enhance clinical skills and address areas for improvement
    • Complete all necessary documentation for billing purposes promptly
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide services to families and individuals affected by mental illness
    • Follow up with clients and families to enhance engagement and retention
    • Assist clients in accessing additional services as needed
    • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services
    • Work with external agencies to ensure seamless service integration, especially for complex cases
    • Deliver presentations to community groups on clinical issues related to chronic/terminal illnesses and families with grandparent caregivers
    • Participate in team meetings to address the needs of high-risk clients
    • Conduct home visits when required
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health, or Family Therapy
    • Licensed LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York
    • Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience with TFC population or equivalent
    • Strong writing skills with a focus on timely documentation submission
    • Demonstrated success in working within an integrated care team
    • Thorough knowledge of DSM-V mental health diagnoses and treatment approaches for adults and children
    • Interest in working with children
    • Familiarity with Evidence-Based Models of treatment such as MI, CBT, DBT, TF-CBT
    • Ability to deliver confidential services professionally in a fast-paced environment

    Desired Qualifications

    • Proficiency in Spanish and/or Creole

    Location: This role allows for hybrid work and is based in Brooklyn, NY, conveniently located near public transportation.

    Starting Pay Range: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year.

    Schedule: Full-time position with 35 hours per week, including evening and Saturday hours as needed.
