    Description

    What You Will Do:

    Gannett Fleming is currently looking for a skilled Construction Cost Engineer to join our team in New York, NY. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth execution and financial integrity of construction projects within our portfolio.

    Key responsibilities for this position include:

    • Supervising financial management of contractor payment applications
    • Examining contractor detailed estimate breakdowns of lump sum costs
    • Tracking construction budget versus actual expenditures and earned value analysis
    • Managing change orders throughout the construction lifecycle on multiple projects, ensuring accurate assessment and integration
    • Reviewing construction change proposals from contractors, analyzing both direct and indirect costs
    • Working closely with the project's contract administrator, scheduler, and construction management team to review, challenge, and finalize contract modifications financially
    • Showcasing expertise in related estimating software
    • Creating various financial estimates like conceptual estimates, budgetary figures, change order valuations, and verification estimates for proposed change orders
    • Utilizing historical data from Gannett Fleming and the industry to ensure precise cost estimations
    • Evaluating third-party estimates for adequacy and reliability
    • Engaging in negotiations of change orders with contractors and clients

    Education | Experience:

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in change order management and estimating, ideally with a construction management firm
    • Experience in estimating for civil, mechanical, or electrical projects, specifically in the public sector. Experience with NYCDEP or other NYC public agencies is advantageous
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Project is required
    • Familiarity with eBuilder PMIS is a plus
    • Prior involvement in large-scale wastewater, civil, or facilities projects
    • Ability to travel to jobsites in the New York metro area
