    Description


    The Performance Improvement Specialist is responsible for supporting The Montefiore Center for Performance Improvement which serves as a centralized resource to facilitate adoption of a standardized approach to performance improvement and quality improvement across the Montefiore health system.

    This position supports the efforts and goals of the Center for Performance Improvement which are to educate, standardize and connect people working on shared quality initiatives .

    This includes teaching, facilitating and coaching quality/performance improvement initiatives. Leading healthcare teams through process improvement activities including project design, project execution/implementation, and sustainability strategies. The individual must be knowledgeable regarding performance methodologies and improvement science.

    In addition, the individual must be able to interact, work, and collaborate with clinical /administrative leadership and associates across the organization.

    Strong logical, analytic, and deductive reasoning skills are required.


    In this role you will:

    • Train, coach, and mentor Montefiore Health System teams to undertake process and performance improvement initiatives from project chartering & design, execution/implementation, and measurement.
    • Facilitate the use of IHI, six sigma/process improvement methodologies for the design or redesign of care delivery processes.
    • Effectively work and collaborate with system quality leadership, clinicians, and administrative colleagues alike as a representative of the Center for Performance Improvement.
    • Demonstrate strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with managing timely deliverables.

    Length of Work Experience: 3 years


    Certification in one or more of the following: IHI's (Institute for Healthcare Improvement) Model for Improvement, Lean Healthcare/TPS (Toyota Production Systems), and/or Six Sigma.


    • Healthcare experience a must Masters preferred, clinical background is helpful, but not required.
    • Preferred 3-5 years of experience working in an administrative setting involving organizational skills, independent decision making and interaction with multidisciplinary team members.
    • Must demonstrate experience and/or formal training in process/performance improvement science.
    • Candidate must demonstrate significant experience with leading/participating in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
