    Description
    The Position:

    This Staff Accountant position will perform general accounting duties including recording journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, prepare intercompany billings, pay franchise tax, prepare 1099 reporting, process payroll functions, and prepare analysis and research of accounting transactions.

    Main Responsibilities:
    • General Accounting
      • Responsible for preparing month-end journal entries as needed.
    • Reconciliations
      • Reconciles general ledger accounts and assists the controller in reconciling bank account activity. Research reconciling items making sure they are resolved within 30 days or before the next month's close.
    • Analysis and Research
      • Perform analysis of accounts and research any anomalies. Provides solutions for resolving variances. Takes the initiative in recommending process fixes.
    • Supports External Audit
      • Provides schedules and explanations to external auditors in connection with the annual audit of the company's records by external CPA.
    • Payments
      • Responsible for land development payments to vendors
    • Problem-Solving
      • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem-solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
    • Payroll Administrator
      • Administers all payroll compensation and benefits for all W2 and 1099 employees. Processes all employee status changes such as pay, promotion, terminations, work hours, etc. Processes payment of management and Builders bonuses, deduction of benefits, PTO payroll administration. Assist employees with questions and access to their information. Reports, and ensures we comply with Labor Law. Process payment of company benefits ensuring that is within contracted amounts.
    Required Competencies:
    • Account or Finance Degree required.
    • Minimum of 2-years experience in homebuilding.
    • Self-starter with strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and a customer service attitude.
    • Knowledge of Sage 300 a plus.
