    Description

    **Transportation Engineer I-II**

    We are seeking a **Transportation Engineer** to join our Chicago office This role will perform Phase I and Phase II design individually and as part of a team on civil/transportation projects under the direct supervision of Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc. (Milhouse) management. Ideally, this candidate can immediately begin to demonstrate proficiency in highway and roadway engineering design including roadway geometrics, cross section development, barrier warrant analysis, maintenance of traffic plans, alternatives analysis, written reports, and the overall preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates. **Duties and Responsibilities:**

    Perform engineering design for a complete project of relatively limited scope or portion of a larger and more-diverse project.

    Prepares and modifies Phase I reports

    Perform Phase I safety analysis

    Prepares Phase II plans, specifications, and cost estimates

    Prepare design calculations using appropriate tools and/or software

    Perform geometric layouts, grading plans, utility layouts and develop 2D and 3D models using MicroStation and OpenRoad

    **Required Skills and Abilities:**

    Working knowledge of MicroStation

    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of VBA a plus

    Experience using GIS, utilizing SQL and Python a plus

    Knowledge of traffic software such as HCS2000 or Synchro a plus

    Experienced with Bentley 3D Corridor Modeling

    Proven design experience with IDOT and the Illinois Tollway

    Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and confidently with clients and peers

    Strong organization skills and attention to detail

    **Education and Experience:**

    Civil Engineering degree from accredited University

    1-3 years of experience as a Civil Engineer dedicated to transportation

    EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months require
