Job Title: Water Accountability Tech II

Department: Water Accountability Real

Reporting Relationship: Superintendent-Water Accountability

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Grade: H

General Responsibilities

Under general supervision perform work in locating non-revenue water within the distribution system to minimize loss of revenue.

Essential Job Functions

Operate and proficiently use ultrasonic and electronic leak detectors, leak noise correlators, main locating devices
Investigate pressure complaints and understand how to detect pressure issues
Obtain and test water samples for use in leak detection using both chemical and electronic methods
Function as team leader Responsible for training Water Accountability Technician assigned to this position
Responsible for ordering and ensuring payment for all departmental equipment and supplies Track purchase orders, ensures that all vendors are paid in a timely manner and follows up on invoices Maintain adequate computer records of all departmental transactions
Investigates database records of low-flow, stuck or otherwise poorly functioning water meters Field verifies non-functioning meters 1⁄2 " meters and larger Maintains computer records of accounts visited, field observations and recommended actions
Ability to prioritize work to ensure dork orders are handled appropriately and in a timely manner
Oversee performance of work contractors onsite performing repair work Direct on the most appropriate way to repair the ground after leak repair is complete
Perform routine maintenance work by surveying throughout the BWWB territory
Investigates and documents known division gate valves and identify possible locations of gradient cross connections Maintains spreadsheet information on these locations and actions
Read maps and valve cards to assist in locating and making decisions on how to approach a repair job
Participate in on call rotation to support business continuity when responding to emergency locates
Perform all work safely in accordance with established safety policies and procedures Comply with all safety and health standards and guidelines issued by management
Perform other duties as assigned..

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

Three (3) years of leak detection experience, such as, locating water mains; spotting water leaks; locating valves; reading detail/line/valve maps and reading valve cards required. Knowledge of the distribution system. Experience with the installation/patrolling of permalogs; operation of correlators and L Mic are preferred. Excellent communication skills. Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Driver's license required
Grade I Water Distribution System Certification required or obtain within 12 months of hire
Confined Space Certificate required

Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods
Reaching by excreting hand(s) or arms(s) in any direction
Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
Communication skills using the spoken word
Ability to see within normal parameters
Ability to hear within normal parameters
Ability to move about
Ability to lift more than 100 pounds

Work Enviroment

Loud noise; indoors and outdoors, exposure to extreme hot/cold weather conditions.
