Description

Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/div)
The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, a member of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science, is a leading research center for fusion studies. The institute is dedicated to developing the fundamental principles for a future fusion power plant and is affiliated with the European Fusion Programme.

The Greifswald Institute for Plasma Physics is a renowned laboratory at the forefront of magnetic fusion research, with a focus on the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator.

Our international team of researchers is committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions through controlled fusion reactions. One of our key research objectives is the safe operation of high-power fusion devices.

Precise management of thermal loads on plasma-facing components is crucial for this, and at Wendelstein 7-X, we use thirteen infrared systems to monitor the surface temperatures of ten divertor units, ensuring steady-state operations without plasma interruptions.

To further improve safety and operational efficiency, we are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/div) to develop a generative AI framework that can predict power load patterns on plasma-facing components of the Wendelstein 7-X.

This framework will utilize various data sources, including diagnostic data, existing infrared images, and planned magnetic configurations, to provide a novel solution for more efficient and safer plasma control strategies.

Join us in this exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of fusion research
