    GIS Developer

    Salary: $74,000

    Job Description:

    Arizona State University is seeking a skilled and experienced GIS Developer to join our team and play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications. As a GIS Developer, you will work closely with our cross-functional teams to support and enable better decision-making and data visualization. If you are passionate about geospatial technology, this role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission.

    Key Responsibilities:

    GIS Application Development

    ● Design, develop, and maintain GIS applications and tools to support various projects and departments within the organization.

    GIS Administration

    ● Provide solution architecture and administration expertise for ArcGIS Enterprise environment. Performs system management functions including software installs, version upgrades and configuration management.

    Data Integration

    ● Integrate spatial data from multiple sources and formats, ensuring accuracy and consistency while optimizing data workflows.

    Geospatial Analysis

    ● Perform geospatial analysis, spatial modeling, and data manipulation to extract meaningful insights from spatial data.

    Database Management

    ● Manage and maintain GIS databases, including data storage, retrieval, and optimization for performance.

    Custom Scripting

    ● Write custom scripts and automate processes using GIS-specific programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).

    GIS Mapping and Visualization

    ● Create interactive maps, dashboards, and reports to communicate spatial data effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

    Geodatabase Design

    ● Design and implement geodatabase structures to store, organize, and manage spatial data efficiently.

    Quality Assurance

    ● Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and quality of spatial data by conducting regular data validation and integrity checks.

    Collaboration

    ● Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, GIS analysts, and other developers, to deliver comprehensive GIS solutions.

    Documentation

    ● Maintain thorough documentation of GIS processes, workflows, and coding practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and team collaboration.

    Qualifications:

    ● Bachelor's degree or higher in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

    ● Proven experience in GIS development, spatial analysis, and database management.

    ● Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.

    ● Experience administering an ArcGIS Enterprise environment.

    ● Strong programming skills in languages like Python, JavaScript, or SQL.

    ● Knowledge of web mapping frameworks and libraries (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers).

    ● Familiarity with spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server).

    ● Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

    ● Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

    ● Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.

    ● Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
