    Description
    Provides direct nursing care in accordwith established policies, procedures and protocols for thehealthcare organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Providesdirect nursing care in accord with established policies, proceduresand protocols for the healthcareorganization.
    • Implements and monitors patientcare plans.
    • Monitors, records and communicatespatient condition as appropriate.
    • Serves asprimary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patientcare.
    • Notes and carries out physician andnursing orders.
    • Other duties asassigned.

    Education:

    • Graduate from an accreditedschool of professionalnursing.

    Certifications:

    • Currentstate licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
    • Proofof Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association(AHA) certification must be presented upon hire. If in a CriticalCare area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through AmericanHeart Association (AHA) certification must be presented upon hireor within first year of employment.
    • Within oneyear of hire RNs in Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital forRehabilitation will achieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced LifeSupport (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) with theexception of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit RNs who must achieveand maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) throughAmerican Heart Association (AHA) provider status and RNs in theSpecial Delivery Unit, who must achieve and maintain AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association(AHA).
    • (ONS) Chemo/Bio coursecomplete within 2 years of employment if employed on unitsinpatient and/or outpatient where chemo isadministered.
    • If in an Adult/Combined EDs,Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American HeartAssociation (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work inthe Emergency Department.
    • If in an ED,Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American HeartAssociation (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work inthe Emergency Department.
    • InDedicated Trauma Centers, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult)or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire orwithin 24 months of beginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.

    Complexityof Work:

    • Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressfulenvironment and take appropriateaction.

    WorkExperience:

    • Internalcandidates must have at least one year recent related nursingexperience.
    • External candidates must have atleast two years recent related nursingexperience.

    PhysicalRequirements:

    • Medium Work -Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10pounds of force constantly to moveobjects.
    • Physical Demand requirements are inexcess of those for LightWork.

    PersonalProtective Equipment:

    • Follows standardprecautions using personal protective equipment asrequired.
