    Responsibilities:
    • Lead activities related to policy and government relations for the Academy, reporting to the Executive Director.
    About the Academy:

    The Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research is a professional society focused on the needs of radiologists and imaging scientists. It has a collaborative culture where all team members can contribute. The office is a hybrid environment, requiring 3 days in-office per week. Travel is expected 1-2 times a year.

    Summary of Responsibilities:
    • Provide advice to the Executive Director, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors on policy goals and initiatives.
    • Advise on policy and advocacy strategy.
    • Lead advocacy and policy programs.
    • Develop strategic initiatives to advance advocacy goals.
    • Maintain relationships with government officials and other organizations.
    • Provide guidance on various issues as needed.
    Essential duties:
    • Identify policy issues aligned with the Academy mission.
    • Manage government relations and communication with external stakeholders.
    • Manage activities with outside lobbyists.
    • Organize advocacy events and collaborate on showcases.
    • Support efforts at conferences and meetings.
    • Maintain relationships with stakeholders and provide input on related activities.
    • Propose initiatives to advance research member needs.
    • Monitor legislation and attend relevant meetings.
    • Establish relationships with Congress members and federal agencies.
    • Work on advancing policy agenda with coalitions and organizations.
    • Facilitate interested parties and publicize activities.
    • Promote member participation in advocacy efforts.
    Required Skills and Experience:
    • 4-year degree in political science, government, or related field.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in government relations and policy, preferably in biomedical research.
    • Ability to think strategically, build relationships, and communicate effectively.
    • Experience in scientific societies is a plus.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and good communication skills are required.
