Government Affairs & Sustainability Advocate

The role of Government Affairs & Sustainability Advocate involves developing and executing advocacy and lobbying initiatives related to HP Inc's key issues, focusing on US Federal and State matters, as well as sustainability in the Americas region.

This multifaceted position requires collaboration with HP's business units, sustainable impact team, and various business groups, contributing to a vibrant government affairs function in the US and the Americas.
The chosen candidate will be tasked with promoting HP Inc.'s interests to elected and appointed officials at the federal and state levels in the US, coordinating sustainability advocacy across the Americas, and engaging with all relevant stakeholders internally and externally.
The position reports to the Head of the Americas - Government Affairs & Public Policy.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning and implementation
- Develop, maintain, and implement strategies and policy positions to support HP's portfolio.
- Coordinate with internal HP stakeholders, market/region organizations, and key functions to align on positions and advocacy plans, drive engagement, and communicate policy priorities.
- Analyze policies, legislation, and regulations impacting HP, identifying growth opportunities and developing advocacy strategies.

  • Policy/Legislative/Regulatory analysis
- Stay informed about current trends, assessing potential risks and opportunities.
- Evaluate pending legislation and policy, providing guidance/recommendations to internal stakeholders and communicating positions externally.

  • Relationship Building/Management
- Cultivate positive relationships with government officials, opinion leaders, and external stakeholders, advocating for favorable public policies.
- Collaborate with trade and advocacy associations to advance lobbying and policy positions.

Management
  • - Manage external resources supporting legislative and regulatory agendas, driving strategy and messaging.

What you'll bring to the team:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience at the federal or state levels, including advocacy or lobbying roles.
  • Strong communication skills, depth of knowledge in government policies, and political expertise.
