Ultimate Staffing has partnered with a large Hartford county based Construction company seeking a Direct Hire Construction Estimator. This role reports to the Director of Chief Estimator and interfaces with Operations, Marketing, Accounting and Administration

SUMMARY
The function of the Estimator is to perform all facets of developing a cost proposal for a construction project. The responsibilities include procurement of all relevant information and pricing required. Development of project budgets on a conceptual basis will be required in some cases. Further tasks include management and execution of Bid or other proposal forms. The work involves working on multiple projects simultaneously within very demanding deadlines. The ability to create, identify & exploit Bid advantages is essential.
Direct Hire Salary Range $120,000-$140,000
GENERAL & SPECIFIC DUTIES

The Estimator shall fulfill the following principal duties as part of his responsibility, a detailed list of Tasks & Duties is contained in the Departmental Policy Manual.

Metal Framing, Drywall & Taping.
Estimates
o

Prepare Estimates in formats acceptable to the Associated Construction Co.
Plans, Specs, Addenda & Contract Documents
o

Maintain in Plan Room & make available to subcontractors & venders.
Bid Invitations & Advertising
o

Broadcast bid invitations to a sufficient number of subcontractors & suppliers that will assure competitive pricing. Advertise ACC bidding activity in appropriate trade publications.
Quantity Take Offs & Pricing
o

Quantify the various parts of the project & assign values to the work. Use ACC historical data as required for pricing.
Bid Forms & Proposal Letters
o

Prepare bid forms and/or proposal letters that enumerate the work being quoted. List clarifications, inclusions, and exclusions as appropriate.
Schedule
o

Prepare a preliminary schedule that establishes timeframes for work and overall project duration.
Effectiveness/Strategy
o

Identify and develop facets of the project that will enable ACC to gain competitive advantages.
Request For Information
o

Write and record exchange of uncertain project information.
Value Engineering
o

Develop cost saving alternatives when required for projects.

Perform all other tasks and/or duties necessary to adequately fulfill the position's responsibility or as assigned by the Vice President.

RESPONSIBILITY

Personally, or through the direction of other staff direct the efforts of the estimating activities for multiple Associated Construction projects.

Assure that Estimates produced are thorough and competitive.
Maintain a success ratio that enables the Associated Construction Co. to continue as a viable and healthy business.
Provides guidance, training and performance feedback to employees assigned to the job as appropriate.
Makes optimal use of time during work hours
Maintains organized and clear work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plan, organize and direct the work efforts of estimates as directed. The coordination and support of the efforts of all estimating activities for the company.
Assure the timely & accurate completion of all estimates.
Assign, control and coordinate all Construction activities that would be involved in all Associated operations.

To be able to interpret that data and be a key resource to both forecasting and controlling expenses in order to achieve the maximum returns on current jobs.
