    Summary
    DWC seeks a full-time Director of Health and Wellness to oversee operations and program development of DWC's Health & Wellness programs, including basic needs services and health programming. An ideal candidate will lead, inspire, and motivate a team of professionals whose primary goal is to end homelessness for women in the Skid Row community. This position is a member of DWC's Leadership Team and will report directly to the Sr. Director of Health & Wellness.

    Essential Functions
  • Oversee programming that includes basic needs and health services.
  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to an inter-disciplinary team including program managers, direct service staff, interns, and volunteers as needed.
  • Conduct weekly individual and group supervision meetings.
  • Responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Day Center and Health Clinic.
  • Responsible for oversight of risk management and crisis intervention for the Day Center and Health Clinic.
  • Responsible for program development to enhance DWC services, including coordination of enrichment activities and development of community partnerships.
  • Develop and implement health and wellness services, program policies, procedures, and services using evidence-based practices, including Trauma-Informed Care; proactively engage clients in program design and respond to client grievances.
  • Maintain a culture of performance management and continuous improvement, helping staff focus on both their individual clients as well as the agency's overall goals; develop annual department goals, including objectives, strategies, and specific targets; monitor client databases and other performance tracking tools.
  • Manage both government and private funds and documentation of expenses; provide oversight of departmental budget and grant requirements.
  • Provide training on best practices to DWC staff and in the community, including Trauma-Informed Care, Crisis Intervention, and Harm Reduction.
  • Conduct presentations at conferences, in the community, and at meetings.
  • Provide regular, written reports to the Sr. Director of Health & Wellness and Chief Programs Officer, and additional reports as assigned.

    The Director of Health and Wellness directly supervises managers and direct service staff.

    Work Environment
    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical Demands
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear (e.g., publicly speak and listen to others). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (e.g., ability to see a computer screen) and ability to adjust focus (e.g. address a crowd in a Day Center setting). The role requires verbal crisis intervention, which may involve the ability to quickly move from an office to another location to help resolve the matter. Job requires the ability to carry files, open filing cabinets, bend, and stand on a stool as necessary.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Sunday-Thursday 8am-4:30pm or Tuesday-Saturday 8am-4:30pm. Work week must include a weekend day.

    Travel
    Occasional transportation of clients may occur. Travel for conferences and training may occur. Travel for local meetings is required.

    Remote Work
    Hybrid days available with the expectation to work onsite full-time whenever needed. Weekend days must be onsite in person.

    Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Social Science required.
  • Master's degree in relevant studies preferred.
  • MSW, ACSW or LCSW preferred
  • 3 years of experience supervising staff preferred
  • Experience with contract and budget management preferred
  • Experience with workforce program development including; program research, knowledge of data, implementation, and evaluation, and community based vocational and employment programs, etc.
  • Required Knowledge/Skills/Position Qualifications
  • Experience in supervision of similar programs or in a housing environment and demonstrated experience managing progressive responsibilities as a senior staff member.
  • Experience with grant/contract oversight and administration
  • Experience with budget management preferred
  • Experience with direct supervision of staff
  • Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation, and knowledge of trauma-informed care
  • Strong knowledge of the complexity of poverty and women's homelessness, mental illness, trauma, substance abuse, health issues, and older adults required
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
  • Experience with HMIS data entry and quality assurance reports preferred
  • Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English preferred.

  • Must be a CA resident and live no more than 75 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWC.
  • Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.
  • Must provide documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result from the last seven days, on first day of hire.
  • You will be required to be up to date on your vaccinations against COVID-19 and provide documentation. If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving the final primary dose. If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations. Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.
