    Michigan Millers is seeking an Underwriter Associate New Business to join our team in our Lansing office

    This position is responsible for assisting underwriting in obtaining profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for new business.

    Responsibilities of an Underwriter Associate New Business include:

    • Assist underwriters in the processing of new business transactions
    • Use established practices, processes, and procedure to write new policies based on underwriting authority
    • Review new business application documents, gather additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies and provide pertinent information to underwriting staff
    • Understand Commercial and Specialty liens rating methodology and coverage
    • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
    Requirements

    What is a must-have?
    • Ability to follow process and have attention to detail
    • Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Able to multi-task and solve basic problems
    • Flexibility to handle various assignments and changing priorities
    • Bachelor's degree in Insurance or Finance; equivalent related experience in lieu of degree
    Preferred Skills
    • AU and/or INS certification

    The targeted hiring range for this role is $ However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role.
