    The Town of Scarborough's Community Services Department is seeking an Active Adults Program Coordinator. This is a full-time position that focuses on planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising programming for Scarborough's active adults. Scarborough has a strong history of quality "55 Plus" programming.

    We are looking for someone to join our team that is passionate about upholding these programming standards, while excited about the opportunity to expand programming for all adults in Scarborough.

    This position works collaboratively in a team environment to support all Community Services programs and initiatives.

    The Coordinator reports to the Recreation & Waterfront Manager or designee and supports the Seniors Program Advisory Board, as well as the Age-Friendly Community Committee.

    This position interacts considerably with Town leadership, staff, and the general public.

    Essential Functions:


    This position is responsible for developing, organizing, implementing, and supervising recreation programs for active adults, such as social and recreational events, educational programs, and trips/excursions.

    Works to promote and expand program offerings for the Town of Scarborough. Provides excellent customer service and maintains an excellent rapport with residents and program participants.
    Works with program participants, staff, and the public in a collaborative manner promoting partnerships and teamwork.

    Position Qualifications/Competencies (Required):
    Ability to deal with the public in an effective, tactful and pleasant manner. Ability to maintain a positive attitude as well as the ability to stay calm during stressful situations.
    Ability to establish and maintain effective and productive relationships with program participants, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
    Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
    Ability to perform a variety of tasks, to adapt to different work environments, and to meet sometimes short timelines.
    Must have the ability to keep data and prepare reports(both written and financial), as well as have excellent organizational skills
    Enthusiasm and interest in working with active adults within the full spectrum of ages.
    Must possess a valid Maine driver's license and have demonstrated a good driving record.
    A combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be attained and developed.

    Position Qualifications/Competencies (Preferred):
    1-3 Years of working within the field of Recreation and/or related field
    Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or closely related field
    Experience supervising and leading group trips
    Experience with and a deep appreciation for adult recreation and activities
