    JOB SUMMARY


    Responsible for supporting and holding campus Intervention Assistance Teams (IATs) accountable for creating effective systems and coordinating intervention activities (academics and behavior) aimed at closing the achievement gap.

    This position provides coaching and technical support to develop the IATs and help them implement Response to Intervention (RtI).

    This position is responsible for coordinating the efforts of multiple departments (school offices, special education, student support services, curriculum, etc.) towards supporting the effective operation of the campus based IATs.

    This position reports directly to the Interventions Office Director.

    MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Manages campus-based interventions initiatives as identified by the Interventions Office Director.
    • Develops and provides support including training, planning, coordination, facilitation, and resources for school-based Interventions Assistance Teams (IATs).
    • Works with other Managers, Directors, special education evaluation personnel, and other stakeholders to provide instructional and behavioral intervention systems and strategies that can prevent school failure.
    • Coordinates the activities of Coordinators and Evaluation Specialist from Special Education to create an IAT (Intervention Assistance Team) Support Team that is seamless and solves problems to keep the work moving forward for children.
    • Contributes to design of the district MTSS/Response to Intervention system including defining tiers, matching resources to students for elementary through high school, including development of guidelines, a handbook, the SIS function, and other tools as needed to help campuses close the achievement gap and accelerate all students. This work includes staying current on legal and policy implications for Response to Intervention at the district, state, and federal level.
    • Manages systems of accountability and deliverables for IAT District Liaisons and other campus leadership that in assigned schools to help move the work forward.
    • Identifies instructional tools and support services that can assist students. Acts as a liaison between central office and campuses for providing information on the efficacy and availability of tools and services.
    MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED


    • Facilitates effective use of data for universal screening, progress monitoring, and schoolwide data review, including design and improvement of district data systems for effective use by campus IAT's.
    • Designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring accelerated instruction programs that align with the state requirements.
    • Communicates effectively with central office administrators and staff, campus administrators, IAT district liaisons, IAT chairpersons, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to advocate for students.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of all school and/or district improvement requirements.
    • Collects and submits information to the Interventions Office Director, Assistant Superintendent for Interventions, and the Academics team as necessary or as requested.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
    Work Leadership.

    Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility.

    Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.

    WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

    Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

    Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems.

    Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
