Job DescriptionAbout the role:
The Utilities Manager reports to the Associate Director of Engineering.
You are responsible for the Utilities Operation team and for the maintenance of all plant utilities systems, clean utilities, wastewater treatment, and alcohol distillation for the Georgia site.
You will apply an understanding of theories and practices around the plant and cleaned utilities system utilized by other disciplines outside of the primary area of expertise toward operations and maintenance of the equipment.
How you will contribute:
You will lead the Supervisors and Utilities Technicians.
Plan and executes and functionally direct important operation and maintenance assignment.
Assure the cGMP, SOPs, Global Procedure, and Good Engineering practices are followed in all maintenance activities.
Responsible and accountable for the facility and equipment in the area operating in an effective and compliant manner.
Responsible for operation compliance with Air emissions permits, wastewater permits, and other environmental program permits.
Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction projects to support company operations excellence programs.
Maintain the area and equipment inspection ready.
Manage, administer, and monitor the utilities operation and maintenance personnel including the supervisor and technician assigned to the utilities area to assure efficient and compliant operation and maintenance of the systems.
Manage site utilities equipment failure investigation to ensure timely resolution of any issues, thus assuring a continuous supply of utilities and a state of compliance with all applicable standards, methods, procedures, licenses, and regulations.
Identify, lead, influence, drive, and support improvements that result in stable, reliable, and efficient operations.Search, study, identify, and understand all cost drivers for the utilities operations and maintenance to reduce operational cost year over year.
In coordination with the engineering teams, manage site utilities projects to enhance utilities reliability.Complete, administer, and manage all documentation to support change control and design work.
Facilitate and verify appropriate training for all employees on the shift (including, but not limited to, cGMP, job skills, safety, etc.) Coordinate training as needed.
Ensure assigned projects and deliverables (i.e. Corrective actions, exceptions report, meeting action items, etc.) are completed per commitment date.Improve performance with employees by providing a positive and equitable work environment emphasizing respect, responsiveness, safety and results, as well as, using the talent management process.
Coach, motivate, develop and mentor supervisors and staff.Create employee and organizational development; and HR plans to meet needs.
Coordinate, oversee and manage contractors to meet the responsibilities of the department.
MinimumRequirements/Qualifications:
Typically requires bachelor's degree, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Bio-Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of related experience in utilities engineering and/or utilities operation management / supervision.
Minimum of 7+ years of experience managing employees and activities.
Must have strong experience with operation and control of utilities equipment and process.
Must have knowledge of plant utilities operation and maintenance.
Must be able to work and facilitate a team-oriented environment
Experience in pharmaceutical utilities or food processing facilities, specifically Plasma fractionation and purification.
Must have ability to understand cGMP and other regulatory guidelines applicable to the medical/pharmaceutical industry.
Must be proficient in reading/review of process P&IDs and one-line diagrams.
Other Job Requirements:
In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing condition in the facility.
Must be able to work multiples shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in support of a 24x7 manufacturing operation
Ability to work in a clean room environment
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (such as hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs) due to safety requirements in specific areas
Ability to travel on an infrequent basis ( No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails worn in the manufacturing environment
Will work in a cold and wet environment
Some Clean room and cool/hot storage conditions.

Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
