    Work First Counselor - Full Time

    This position is responsible for facilitating appropriate substance use and mental health services to Work First Benefit applicants and recipients, and individuals convicted of Class H or I Controlled Substance Felonies who are applying for Work First assistance and/or food stamps.

    A primary function of this role entails completing client assessments to assess for appropriate care.

    Pay

    Starting at $ $25.00 per hour, based on licensure and experience.

    Schedule

    Flexible, 40 hours per week.

    Option to work remote.


    Preferably located in the Triangle, as must be available to visit Oak City Care Tuesdays 10a-1p and Wake County (NC) DSS office on an occasional basis.

    Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date.

    Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match.

    10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match.

    Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and additional pay for working holidays.

    SouthLight is also an approved employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

    We are excited to offer an additional benefit of Clinical Supervision Reimbursement.

    We will provide a monthly reimbursement of up to $200 (full-time) or $100 (part-time) to each associate level clinician electing this benefit for no more than 2 years, or until licensure is completed, whichever is first.

    Licensures eligible to receive this benefit include LCSWA, LCMHCA, LMFTA, LPA, LCASA, and CADC.

    Job Responsibilities of a Work First Counselor


    • Provide assessment of mental health and substance use for Work First (WF) and Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and Class H & I consumers.
    • Refer for treatment when assessment indicates.
    • Provide consultation and training to Work First staff on substance use recognition, screening and referral procedures.
    • Develop and implement early intervention strategies in conjunction with Work First caseworkers.
    • Provide assessment of Child Protective Services (CPS) referrals as needed.
    • Collect and monitor outcome data on the provision of consumer services and generate monthly reports accordingly.
    • Follow up with providers regarding client participation and compliance.
    • Participate in quarterly conference calls for the WF/FNS/CPS Substance Use Initiative.
    • Serve as liaison with other programs and agencies in the coordination of consumer care or connection with community resources.
    • Provide monthly psychoeducation groups to WF consumers participating in the Jobs & Community Workforce Solutions (CWS) activities.
    • Provide orientation to the WF/SA Initiative for WF clients and case consultation with DSS staff.
    Qualifications of a Work First Counselor

    Educational and Experience


    • Minimum Master's degree in a Human Services field
    Meets the requirements specified for a QP status

    Licensure/Certifications


    • Currently licensed to practice clinically (LCAS, LMFT, LCMHC, LCSW - LCAS preferred)
    OR

    • Will become fully licensed (provisionally licensed at date of hire) within 2 years of hire.
