    Position Description:


    Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin are seeking a Cardiac Surgeon within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Department of Surgery.

    The ideal candidate would perform all aspects of cardiac surgery, who has an area of clinical and/or research interest, and who will be passionate about contributing to our expanding Cardiac Surgery Program.

    The Division is seeking a candidate with expertise in cardiac surgery who demonstrates excellent clinical skills and a collaborative work style.

    Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

    Join our clinically outstanding practice consisting of 13 cardiothoracic surgeons, 20 advanced practice providers (APPs), and 14 perfusionists that provide world-class care for patients from all over Wisconsin and beyond.

    Representing comprehensive cardiac surgery care in Wisconsin, our program is recognized for nationally ranked outcomes and internationally known specialists.

    We provide highly individualized care to patients through a multidisciplinary team, which includes cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, transplant coordinators, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, registered dietitians, social workers, financial counselors, and psychologists.


    As an academic medical center involved in groundbreaking research, we offer deep clinical expertise and have specialists skilled at managing even the most complex cases.

    Our program is known for its expertise in ventricular assist device (VAD) therapy and was awarded the Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission.

    The Department has a large clinical presence on the campus of the academic medical center and the Zablocki VA Medical Center, along with a significant number of regional affiliations and practice locations outside of the metro Milwaukee area.

    There are approximately 110 full time and P/T faculty and 60 trainees including a residency and six fellowship programs. The Department has an annual budget of $103M with annual research funding of approximately $8 million.

    Our storied tradition of excellence in resident and student education remains a top priority of all faculty.
