    Description

    The Supply Chain Analyst/Production Planner is responsible for planning production lines and equipment at Suncast. He or she will plan production that often runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week within a union environment. Materials resource planning (MRP) programs, spreadsheets, and databases are used extensively.

    The Supply Chain Analyst/Planner will personally schedule the required end items and related components. This employee will work closely with several departments including purchasing, sales, production, quality assurance, and distribution. It may be necessary to be on call during evenings and weekends.

    Responsibilities:

    The following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned.

    • Coordinate daily with Customer Service to ensure that near-term product shortages are resolved. (1 to 2 week horizon.)
    • Coordinate with Forecasting to ensure that medium-term demand changes are incorporated into the Master Schedule. (3 to 8 week horizon)
    • Develop long-term pre-build plans as required to leverage resource capacity.
    • Maintain safety stock and replenishment targets for individual stock keeping units (SKUs).
    • Maintain shop calendar.
    • Prepare weekly Inventory Change and Demand versus Plan Valuation Report and report results.
    • Prepare monthly Finished Goods and Materials Inventory Change Reports for the sales and operations (S & OP) meeting.
    • Compile Unique Materials Inventory Report for Sales as required.
    • Prepare Build versus Scrap Analysis Report on excess and obsolete materials and products.
    • Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.

    • Associates Degree required; Bachelors degree in Business, Operations Management, or a similar field preferred. Two years of production planning experience required.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond to questions from managers, engineers, and coworkers.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and using effective communication skills, act on these conclusions to achieve the desired result. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are vital in this position.
    • This position requires an expert level of computer literacy. The employee must be capable of using advanced features of spreadsheets and databases for data analysis. He or she must be capable of learning to use AS400 query methods. Advanced knowledge of MRP is required.

    While performing this job, the employee will be required to sit, use a computer with a keyboard and mouse, communicate effectively with others, and use active listening skills. On occasion he or she will be required to walk within office and manufacturing areas and attend meetings in the production environment. Vision requirements include ability for close vision so printed reports and computer screens can be read, distance vision, and the ability to focus. This is a full-time position. Due to fluctuations in production schedules, this employee may be required to be on call and to work additional hours to meet additional demands.

    While performing these duties, the employee will spend most of his or her time in an office environment. However, Suncast is a manufacturer, and it will be necessary to enter the manufacturing area to complete some tasks or to enter some office areas. Typically, offices are climate controlled and have a moderate noise level for an office. Manufacturing areas are subject to seasonal variations in temperature and humidity. Noise level is generally moderate for manufacturing. Safety equipment is required when in manufacturing areas.
