    SUMMARY:

    Logan University is welcoming applications for a Major Gifts Officer to assist in the development and execution of fundraising and strategy.

    The ideal candidate will be committed to developing comprehensive strategic fundraising efforts to meet short- and long-term goals that help secure philanthropic support from individual donors, foundations, and corporations.

    Candidate must demonstrate a successful track record of soliciting and closing $2,500 and up gifts as well as a commitment to building long term relationships with a diverse population of donors and donor prospects.

    Candidate will be responsible for growing their portfolio through identification, qualification, cultivation and stewardship strategies.

    The Major Gifts Officer should be an ambitious and visionary development professional, strong strategic thinker, with a willingness to learn and grow as the program matures.

    This position will be based at Logan University's main campus in Chesterfield, MO, but can expect to travel frequently to cultivate/solicit donors and meet the needs of the University.

    The Major Gifts Officer will report to the Senior Director of Development.


    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Serve as a partner to the Senior Director of Development in executing all phases of a capital campaign, including a focus on mid
    • Level and major gifts, special events, planned giving, corporate/foundation giving, donor relations, and donor stewardship.

    Proactively maintain relationships with a personal portfolio of donors, developing and executing strategies leading to solicitation and investment that leverages the donor's interests and connects them to Logan's giving opportunities.

    The Major Gifts Officer will also collaborate with Logan colleagues and volunteers to identify and cultivate donors outside of their assigned portfolio.

    Travel when necessary to meet and cultivate donors, and execute strategic development plans for regional and national major donor prospects.

    Steward current donors and provide outstanding customer service, proposing renewals and upgrades for annual gifts as appropriate.

    Work with the Senior Director to outline annual and incremental quantitative fundraising goals and align activity to meet or exceed these goals.

    Create compelling, unique proposals for donors to upgrade their giving or invest for the first time.
    Occasionally provide support with creative writing, public speaking, and other communications activities.

    Maintain knowledge of current tax laws, investments and planned giving opportunities, use knowledge in prospect cultivation and solicitation as appropriate.

    Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
    Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the department and/or Logan University.


    QualificationsCOMPETENCIES:

    Must be detail minded, have good organizational and verbal and written communication skills, including ability to proof own work for grammar and spelling.

    Must be able to work well independently or with others.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Development generalist with Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field and five or more years of experience in a professional fundraising environment.

    Master's Degree and/or CFRE certification preferred.
    Knowledge of, and experience executing the major components of a development program.

    Documented success in personally implementing sophisticated, multi-year cultivation strategies that use a relationship-building and moves management approach leading to successful gift closure.

    A self-starter who is comfortable working in fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.

    Proven skills and ability to manage multi-phase projects from inception to completion, including the ability to balance multiple concurrent priorities.

    Ability to set and manage deadlines. Experience utilizing Raiser's Edge or alternative donor database and development tracking software.
    Excellent written and oral communications skills.
    Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills. Strong listening and problem-solving abilities with a positive, can-do attitude.
    Ability to maintain high standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism, and to handle sensitive and proprietary financial information.
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working in donor/prospect computer data base systems. Commitment to the vision, mission and values of Logan University.


    Computer Skills:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft products, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Raiser's Edge or similar CRM donor database, and ability to learn new programs as needed
