Job DescriptionSalary: $17.00 HourlyPOSITION PURPOSE
Active Community Health Center provides Services through specific therapeutic programs which are client and family focused programs that complement the mental health and substance abuse therapeutic services Active CHC provides through-out Broward County. The Behavioral Health Technician provides services on-site, in school, office, or other available location(s) as determined by Active Community Health Center. The Behavioral Health Technician provides services to a range of diverse client groups including adults, children, and adolescents. The Behavioral Health Technician participates in multidisciplinary treatment teams to target individualized treatment plans and assist in other services being provided by paraprofessionals and professionals qualified and licensed members of Active Community Health Center. The Behavioral Health Technician will be scheduled by the work calendar as determined by the site they work at per discretion of Active Community Health Center. The Behavioral Health Technician will comply with all necessary documents/reports; writing as indicated by Active Community Health Center compliance rules.
The Behavioral Health Technician provides support and transportation services to program clients enrolled in the program, works under the Counselor and Clinical Supervisor. Supervises clients during transportation service both to program and door-to-door drop off. Maintains documentation and logs as needed. Emphasizes respect and values for cultural diversity and individual differences in a group setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
Provides Support and Transportation to clients enrolled in the assigned Clinical program.
Provide one-on-one and group support within the program under the supervision of Program Counselor.
Ensure the clients' participation in treatment, therapeutic activities, and facilitating
psycho-educational and recreational activities.
Works effectively with culturally diverse groups and individuals experiencing functional deficits, educational, interpersonal, and behavioral health barriers associated with client's behavior.
Assist in supervision of client activities and be aware of client whereabouts at all times, including breaks and internal activities.
Interact and provide oversight during leisure activities, mealtimes, and physical activity.
Teach personal development skills such as goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy.
Develop and implement strategies to meet the needs of students.
Maintain order and make sure clients understand and are compliant with our company rules and regulations.
Utilize safe crisis management with appropriate training.
Provide appropriate support and keep continuous communication with the Program Counselor. - Maintains communication with Program Counselor, supervisor, and client care takers and guardians.
Complies with and enforces program rules at all times.
Communicate with parents or guardians and caretakers, counselors, and supervisors as necessary.
Report to Counselor and Supervisor any discrepancies of client's whereabouts.
Attends meetings and trainings for professional development.
Ability to understand and comply with all Active CHC policies and procedures.
Presents in a professional manner in the community, in person, on telephone, and in written communication including in times of crisis, extreme stress, and in group situations. - Safe and timely transportation of passengers while being vigilant for traffic and weather conditions.
Supervision of passengers during transportation service to and from their homes to the program location including door to door drop-off.
Maintains a safe passenger atmosphere and upholds rules of conduct on van; includes policy on food and drinks on van and cleanliness of van. Able to respond appropriately to emergency situations. Must maintain necessary logs.
Communicates regarding maintenance of vehicles.
Maintain accurate and complete client records, and prepare reports on clients and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
Cleans workspace and communicates with Counselor and Clinical Supervisor to restock supplies.
Ability to report to work as scheduled, in a timely fashion, and with a service-oriented attitude.
Works cooperatively in the work environment and takes direction and keeps of a composure of dignity, respect, and productive professionalism.
Ability to demonstrate mutual respect and work cordially with others in a team setting.
Maintains a positive, professional, and helpful attitude towards all contact and encounters with visitors and other professionals.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
GED/High School Diploma equivalent.
Certified Behavioral Health Technician preferred.
Training in treatment of mental health disorders, abuse regulations, recipient rights, crisis management interventions, and confidentiality. (Possibility for in-house training by Active CHC upon successful hiring)
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of program site and logistics.
Knowledge to be working with a culturally diverse mental health population as well as a staff suited to be taking care of this population.
Basic knowledge of Behavioral Health, Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work, related professional fields.
Good and Well Standing Driving Record - Subject to Screening.
Must have valid and current Florida Driver's License.
Comfortable operating large vehicles and wheelchair ramps.
HIPAA Compliant & keeps up with training requirements.
Proficient with Computer: Typing, Spreadsheets, Word Documenting, other services. - Must successfully complete all criminal background screenings and drug testing. - English required, Bilingual preferred
Must pass all applicable Background Screenings.
Certificates: Must have an up to date CPR and First Aid Certificates
Demonstrate proficiency in verbal and written skills.
GENERAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to travel to site of program in Broward County; must be able to travel with program during working hours in case of special events regarding program.
Potential exposure to violent situations and exposure to airborne/bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
