- Assists customers with general and specific information concerning permitting and licensing activities in the areas of consumer protection, environmental protection, construction licenses and permits, planning and developmental reviews, building code enforcement violations, elevator safety, as well as zoning and land use regulations, and rightofway permits.

- Processes payments, screens phone calls and directs customers to the proper agency or personnel that can assist them; provides information to the general public regarding elevator regulations, building permits, renewals and other related information.

- Updates State contractors' information prior to pulling a permit in the unincorporated areas of Broward County.
- Review, receive, and prepare permit applications, construction plans and supporting documents and various types and mails out letters of approval/disapproval; sends notification to Contractors and Property Owners, and scans files into database.
- Inputs total daily number of customers seen; ensures that there are adequate amounts of necessary forms and supplies at the work stations; date stamps and files electronic signature pages that are required for projects that are filed through the Epermitting procedure.

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Permit/Licensing Customer Specialist to support the Building Code Division.
General DescriptionLeads in assisting customers with general and specific information concerning permitting and licensing activities.
Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires two (2) years of experience in customer service work, including one (1) year of experience in environmental protection work, construction licensing and permitting, planning and development reviews, impact fees, or zoning and land use regulations including right-of-way permits, child care licensing, or closely related experience.
