    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Accountant Financial is responsible for supporting the preparation of monthly financial statements as well as quarterly and annual regulatory reporting. This support may include preparation of journal entries, auditing of employee expense reports, administration of the corporate Purchasing Card program, and processing of requests to stop pay and void outstanding checks.

    The selected candidate must live within a commutable distance (approximately 50 miles) to Citizens Tallahassee, FL office.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Models ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in accordance with Citizens core values, ethics, and information protection policies.
    • Receive, process, and deposit cash receipts related to the Claims Recovery process
    • Create and record journal entries to update the general ledger for financial activity of the corporation on a monthly basis.
    • Reconcile Purchasing Card charges imported into accounting system to bank information to ensure all transactions are present and have been reported on employee expense reports in accordance with the corporate Purchasing Card Policy.
    • Receive and respond to inquiries regarding Purchasing Card Special Use Requests and act as administrator of the Purchasing Card Program within the PCard vendor's systems.
    • Perform audits of all employee expense reports for accuracy and adherence to guidelines outlined in corporate travel and expense policies. Print checks and process ACH payments for employee expense reimbursements. Act as liaison for employees with questions regarding the electronic expense report process.
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
    • Basic office procedures and practices and basic filing practices
    • Basic knowledge of Accounting principles and practices
    • Ability to summarize, tabulate, or format data or information in accordance with a prescribed schema or plan to facilitate the identification and extraction of useful information
    • Attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines
    • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • High School Diploma | GED
    • Bachelor's Degree OR 3 years relevant experience, OR a combination of both college and experience equivalent to 2 years. With a concentration in Accounting or Finance,
    AND
    • 1 year of experience in accounting
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • 2 or more years of relevant work experience in accounting
    • Knowledge of Citizens policy, claims, and accounting systems
