    Marketing & Content Manager

    If you have a passion and experience for marketing through content creation, a passion for sports and entertainment, and are creative and driven, this is the position for you.

    The focus of this full-time position will be on fulfilling our marketing strategy for the Cedar Rapids Kernels and Waterloo Bucks teams by overseeing marketing content and strategy, assist in content creation for videoboard, advertising, and contributing to other marketing efforts.

    This person will work closely with our graphic designer and social media team to implement the overall marketing strategy for the organization.

    You will also maintain relationships with members of the media.

    Reports to:
    Senior Director of Business Development

    MARKETING CONTENT

    • Support the Senior Director of Business Development in fulfilling the marketing plan and strategy and collaborate with them to create the message and branding.
    • Provide metrics and analysis on our marketing campaigns to measure performance and collaborate with the Senior Director of Business Development to make future decisions based on that data.
    • Work closely with the Graphic Design and Social Media Manager to create our social media strategy, create content, and increase our social media reach and engagement.
    • Stay up on trends within marketing and social media and research and develop plans to incorporate into our brand.
    • Write press releases and develop stories about the organization.
    • Develop an email marketing strategy to increase our reach and exposure in the market.
    • Assist in leading the Kernels on-field entertainment staff during all home games.
    IN SEASON & GAME DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with the Kernels staff and team to fulfill community outreach requests.
    • Develop guerilla marketing strategies including but not limited to pocket schedule distribution, game sign plans, and player & mascot appearances.
    • During games assist in collecting photos, and other content during games to use for future marketing efforts.

    Demonstrate and grow the Kernels "Excellence in All We Do" credo by displaying the utmost in professionalism, compassion, and respect and provide first-class customer service to our fans.

    MISC.

    • Maintain Normal Business Hours 9-5 M-F on non-game days
    • During season game day 9 am through the game.
    • Non-game day during season 9-5
    • Expected to attend all Kernels home games.
    • Will be asked to attend Waterloo Bucks games as needed as part of the team.
    • Expect to work all special events.
    • Other duties as deemed necessary

    REQUIREMENTS
    Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, business or related field
    Minimum three (1-3) years of related experience preferably in the sports & entertainment industry.

    • Experience working in the sports industry is preferred.
    • Experience using Adobe Photoshop or other graphic design programs and ability to create and edit graphics.
    • Internship in the sports industry is strongly encouraged but not required
    • Fluent in Microsoft Office programs
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Detail-oriented with a strong problem-solving ability
    • Ability to coach and manage others
    • Ability to work in an athletic sports environment and willing to put in the extended hours it takes including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
    • Knowledge in social media marketing, traditional marketing, and experience operating these mediums for the previous employer, internship, or other organization.
    This position is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and is not a remote position.
