    About the Position: Serves as Logistics Management Specialist (LMS) for U.S. Army South and the Accountable Officer of two Global Combat Support System-Army (GSCC-Army) Tactical Plant 2001 Supply Support Activities (SSAs) Army Working Capital Fund-Supply Management Army (AWCF-SMA).

    Duties
    • Serve as a supply technical advisor with responsibility for providing technical guidance on supply matters.
    • Perform supply functions designed to analyze and independently resolve difficult issues and problems pertaining to downrange base-support materiel-management operations.
    • Recompile data required to prepare supply performance reports; reports may be GCSS-Army generated or AMC unique reports. Coordinates the resolution of supply pipeline problems
    • Documents overages, shortages, or any damages incurred in shipping, and/or other deficiencies and initiates Supply Discrepancies Reports (SDR)
    • Implements supply management controls and policies to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse of resources.
    • Prepare memorandums and after-action briefings for the Army South Logistics team.
    Requirements

    Conditions of Employment
    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
    • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
    • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
    • Occasional travel may be required in performance of duties. Position may be subject to deploy to a hostile environment on short notice during contingencies, humanitarian relief, and/or major exercises.
    • This position requires the ability to operate assigned forklift equipment.
    • This position requires the ability to operate assigned military vehicles.
    • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using specialized methods and techniques to collect, analyze and evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of supply programs and to analyze and resolve difficult issues and problems involving base support supply operations and contracted supply operations and to find ways and means to improve system effectiveness. Experience in supply operations and programs to develop and provide guidance to supported organizations and Installation staff on supply policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods in a variety of work situations involving various degrees of supply controls. Experience using operational capabilities of automated supply systems to retrieve reports and to interrogate system regarding supply usage, stock position, and contractor performance, as well as to identify and rectify problems associated with the movement of data within the system. Proficient in transportation management systems to ensure that once items are identified for shipment, the tasks are efficiently performed; skillful in Army financial and accounting systems to ensure that the correct output is being passed for tracking available funds; and experience using basic contracting procedures to determine methods and procedures by which work will be accomplished. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

    Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in afield which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management degrees.

    Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
