- Serve as the subject matter expert on systems driving financial transactions, with a focus on payroll tax and tax compliance
- Communicate with state and federal agencies to determine the proper treatment of refunds, recording and applying them in the Payroll Processing System
- Reconcile and validate data, contribute to consolidation and reporting activities
- Participate in monthly and quarterly close tasks
- Stay abreast of legislation and regulatory rulings affecting payroll, ensuring adherence, and advising management on required actions
- Assist in various Finance Dept. duties, including A/P, registrations, data entry, and other tax matters
- Strong accounting skills and experience
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting controls
- Knowledge of multi-state laws for auditing payrolls for compliance
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking, hands-on environment
- Inquisitive, critical thinker with robust data analysis and interpretation skills
- Detail and process improvement-oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, AND/OR 2-3 years related accounting, payroll tax work experience preferred
