About the Position
Do you consider yourself a problem solver and have a passion for validating the cost of goods? Maricopa County's Facilities Management Department is hiring for an Accounting Specialist.
As an Accounting Specialist, you will audit invoices, process payments to vendors, and support the business services division with general accounting activities.

As the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities comprised of over 10 million square feet.
Facilities Management is made up of a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments.
Our broad range of services includes various aspects of the ongoing operations and maintenance of all County-owned facilities, management of all facility projects, and in-house design services.

- Two years of experience with clerical accounting, bookkeeping, or specialized administrative experience
- High school diploma or GED
- An equivalent combination of postsecondary education and/or jobrelated experience may substitute for the required experience on a yearforyear basis
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in the use of Maricopa County's financial system CGI Advantage
- Experience in governmental accounting
- Audits invoices submitted for approval validates data and compiles documentation
- Verifies invoice pricing against contract pricing; demonstrates an understanding of invoice components such as labor, materials, retainage, use tax, sales tax, purchase award documents, and expenditure codes
- Monitors payments to assure supporting documentation is complete and meets County requirements and standards

- Communicates regularly, in writing and verbally, with department personnel, vendors, and customers regarding the accuracy of invoices and payables due
- Responds to inquiries/problems from consultants, Finance, and project managers concerning payments and billing prices
- Functions as financial system data entry input for invoice payments and purchasing documents
- Cross trains with other business services and administrative personnel
- Other Job Duties as assigned
- Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
- Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
