    The team is responsible for Schwab's wealth management strategy, while delivering industry-leading experiences, through solutions like Schwab Wealth Advisory (SWA) along with a broad range of investment products and solutions.

    The Director, Senior Tax Planning Specialist role is a part of the Tax, Trust, and Estate team that provides tremendous value and benefits to High-Net-Worth clients.


    The goal of the relationship is to understand our HNW clients various tax needs and provide education, planning and guidance to help them achieve their tax-related goals.


    The Director, Senior Tax Planning Specialist will be the subject matter expert for key considerations of a client's tax needs and be responsible to educate internal partners on the skills and abilities available to support clients and drive referrals to Tax Planning.


    This position will be responsible for building strong relationships with Financial Consultants and Wealth Advisors and providing highly detailed tax strategies to entrepreneurs and other HNW individuals with complex financial affairs, substantial business interests, large family estates and investment portfolios.

    What you haveRequired Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required with in-depth knowledge of CA and/or NY tax rulesBachelor's degree is required (Accounting or related field is preferred)10+ years in personal dealing with high-net-worth individuals, trusts, flow-through entity, private foundations, a strong understand of employer stock equity compensation packages, tax research and memorandum drafting (this role has extensive written deliverables to clientsExtensive experience advising and serving high net worth clientsProven track record preparing high level analysis of clients' tax returns and assist with a holistic tax approach based on clients' needsExperience leveraging tax software to produce a tax analysis to formulate actionable items for clientsAbility to multi-task and hold one-off client calls at an extremely fast-paced environment with quick turn-around of written deliverables to clientsProficiency using the Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, PowerPoint)

    Excellent presentation skills and demonstrated success in a collaborative environmentProven experience in discovering unstated needs through analytical and diagnostic information gatheringAbility to network and build strong internal relationships due to working closely with Branch Financial Consultants and other business partnersAbility to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal effectiveness when working with high-net-worth clientsWhile this role will not initially require securities licensing, the role expectations and associated qualifications may evolveWillingness to travel approximately 10% to 25%Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in taxation is preferredStrong time-management skills and has an ownership and responsibility mindsetPolished verbal and written communication, listening, and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to work without supervision and work in a highly collaborative team environmentAbility to uncover unstated needs from the clients to position additional Schwab services where relevantJob SummaryRequisition ID:
