    Default job background
    Description

    Job Summary:
The Hooko Project at Hawaii Pacific University seeks a full-time academic coach. The project is a grant funded by the U.S.

Department of Education designed to provide wraparound academic support for Native Hawaiian, low-income, and other under-represented or under-resourced students that have placed into first-year developmental math and writing courses.

In providing students with the support and resources they need to find success at the university, the project aims to increase student completion of developmental math and writing courses, overall student GPA, student credit accumulation, and degree completion.

This will be accomplished through direct faculty and staff support, peer mediated class support, and plentiful seminars and workshops on relevant student issues.

Reporting to the Project Director for the Hook0 Project, the Academic Coach is the first line of support in the enhanced, comprehensive programming provided to project students.

This data will allow for the project and the university to engage in timely interventions and offer additional supports for students when needed.
