Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager - Provides primary management to day-to-day functions of the Maintenance Department. Helps to develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime. Helps plan maintenance operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing equipment repairs, improvements, and preventive maintenance.

Works with Maintenance Manager to review operational schedules and coordinates maintenance activities to ensure production and quality of products meet both internal and external customer specifications.

Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards


Responsibilities:


  • Train the Maintenance Technicians in all HSE procedures
  • Responsible for measuring and managing employee performance, completing the proper documentation supporting departmental and operational standards
  • Perform and lead daily meetings
  • Responsible to coach/teach employees in a positive manner
  • Participate in the selection of plant maintenance staff.
  • Assists in identifying needs and participates in training activities to ensure that employees acquire skill sets that support the customer demand and promote flexibility across tasks where possible
  • Responsible for setting a positive example as a change agent and directing employees in the use of continuous reliability improvement tools
  • Work in partnership with Operations Supervisors to collaboratively negotiate, and engage to deliver maximum compliance with the maintenance strategy
  • Partners with Operations with a dedicated focus on critical equipment
  • Provides first response to problemsolving with the Maintenance group and engages employees to resolve problems utilizing practical problemsolving techniques
  • Responsible for assisting with establishing maintenance best practices
  • Complete emergency projects either observed or turned in by maintenance or production which need to be completed immediately
  • Use technical expertise in the field to constantly seek to analyze repetitive type repairs for ways to reduce repetitive maintenance through: Collecting and analyzing reliability data, material changes, Preventive Maintenance, repair procedure and methods change, equipment revisions
  • The Maintenance Supervisor will work in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner-Scheduler to ensure scheduled work is completed on time and in the proper fashion
  • Responsible for ensuring planned maintenance tasks assigned to their team are completed efficiently with a high degree of accuracy and on time
  • Responsible for assigning and directing employees in a manner that maximizes the efficiency of the resources available and verifying the quality of work
  • Responsible for evaluating and providing technical assistance throughout the plant concerning maintenance issues and equipment reliability requirements as it relates to complex equipment
  • Manage contractors when they are performing work that compliments Maintenance work
  • Perform other duties related to the department as required

Work Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience of maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing manufacturing equipment
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of Supervisory experience

Functional/Technical Knowledge

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization (verbal and written) with a high level of competence
