    Description

    Group Leader, Environmental Services Description

    As the **Group Leader** in the **Environmental Services Department** at **Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)**, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the hospital. Your responsibilities will involve training, directing, and supervising a team of Environmental Services personnel to ensure that departmental and hospital policies are followed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Train, orient, and direct Environmental Services personnel
    • Establish and maintain housekeeping schedules
    • Inspect work assignments and ensure completion
    • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training processes
    • Coordinate activities with other departments
    • Ensure proper disposal of medical waste and sensitive materials
    • Participate in emergency response drills
    • Perform Environmental Services functions when necessary

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma preferred
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Basic computer skills
    • Two years of previous housekeeping experience
    • Driver's License Required
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds
    • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
    • Ability to operate mechanical devices and software programs
    • Familiarity with regulatory codes and standards

    Working Conditions:

    • Exposure to dust, dirt, and potentially hazardous materials
    • Risk of cuts, needle punctures, and strains
    • Occasional exposure to caustic chemicals and electrical hazards
