Your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the development and maintaining the efficient operation of the Messaging & Communities Products
Hire, develop and mentor top engineering talent
Translating business objectives into technical requirements and specifications
Driving development processes and ensuring performance standards are met
Collaborating with other Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to ensure the alignment of product development
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, curiosity, and innovation within the team
Addressing problems and developing effective solutions
Youll be involved in all aspects of the product development for a major product area; from strategy, research, prototyping, concept to interaction design, to final QA and code tweaks right before launch
Youll participate in cross-functional brainstorms, discussions, design reviews and interesting and inspiring design team activities
Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values

What Youll Bring To The Team

7-10 years demonstrated experience shipping great consumer products in an agile environment, preferably including work on social networks, building social graphs, follow or relational models and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
Comfort working across the product development spectrum: strategy, ideation, concept work, pixel-level details, and front-end development and implementation
Strong knowledge about software development and architecture
Excellent project management, communication and team management skills
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Swift, Python, and/or Kotlin
Experience of working on messaging platforms or groups product will be a plus

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $208,000 - $280,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
