SUMMARY

Under the CNC Department, the Set-Up/Operator will be required to setup and operate our CNC machines to produce quality parts and meet schedules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set-up and manage CNC machines to perform different jobs including drilling, cutting, turning, facing and milling.
• ·Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines.
• · Performs and is responsible for the setup, maintenance, disassembly and reassembly of machine tools
• Sets up and performs functional tests to determine proper operation of tools prior to submittal to inspection for specific hole and countersink sizes.
• Diagnoses and determines nature and extent of damage, operational defects or wear by making routine and periodic inspections of machine tools
• Check machinery on a daily basis to guarantee functionality.
• Provide timelines to Director of Manufacturing
• Communicate logistics issues that arise in the process of creating a part
• Uses micrometer, countersink gauge, ball gauge, punches hammers, sockets and pliers to make necessary adjustments and repairs.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out –of tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Expertly apply set up sheets instructions for tool path strategies
• Stay current on cutting tools from manufacturers like Kennametal, Sandvik, Harvey, etc.
• Stay current on workholding manufactures such as Orange Vise, 5th-Axis, Schunk, Pierson, Mitee-Bite
• Support continuous improvement to reduce fabrication time, rework, or defects.
• Proficient using hand measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages, optical comparator, etc.)
• Expertly apply the principles of GD&T for drawing/model interpretation and acceptance activities.
• Participate in the creation and planning of First Article, In-Process, Final inspections and accurate report generating utilizing AS9102 FAIR format.
• Participate in Corrective Action processes, including containment plans, root cause analysis, corrective countermeasures, and providing objective evidence for verification/closure.
• Maintain and archive controlled document files and records in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide feedback on the quality aspects of parts and assemblies to Engineering and Quality
• Interact with machinists for communicating fabrication and inspection results
• Works closely and communicates with appropriate teams and/ or related staff to resolve any issues related to production and promptly reports to direct supervisor for any issues/ potential risks;
• Good Work Ethic and ability to consistently meet deadlines;
• Promptly and accurately completes all required record keeping per company processes and policies
• Observe and follow Company's Policies

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Combination of applicable education, certification, experience, proven skills, and/or work history providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. –

-Minimum 5 years experience CNC Set-Up/Operator

-DMG Mori CELOS Controls experience (MAPPS/Fanuc & Siemens Control)

-Experience with 3/4/5-axis milling, mill/turn machines.

COMPUTER/SOFTWARE

Familiarity with ERP systems, ProShop a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to work and convert from both, (USC) inches and (Metric) Millimeter, seamlessly.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Will use hands for extended periods of time while grinding and cutting.

Talking, hearing, vision, depth perception, color vision, field of vision. Work with safe manufacturing processes and understands PPE that is required in the manufacturing area.
