    Job Description Summary


    DLA Piper seeks a non-partnership track Senior Attorney with at least 8 years' experience in labor and employment, including litigation, transactional, and advice and counsel work, for our Los Angeles office.

    This Senior Attorney will have a strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws, including wage and hour laws, the California Labor Code, discrimination laws, and practice before state and federal court and agencies.

    This Senior Attorney will also have experience in the defense of class and collective actions, as well as PAGA claims, support our transactional group with respect to complex deals, and provide day to day advice and counsel to our wide range of clients.


    The Senior Attorney will be handling litigation management, legal research, legal drafting, and other litigation-related tasks for class action as well as single plaintiff cases, including but not limited to matters involving alleged meal and rest period violations, failure to pay wages and/or bonuses, off-the-clock work, misclassification, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, and wrongful termination.

    The Senior Attorney may also conduct employment due diligence and advise on employment aspects of corporate transactions; draft and negotiate employment, termination/severance, and related agreements; and advise on reductions in force.

    Other advice issues include restrictive covenants, employee mobility, compensation practices, commission plans, employee policies/training and leave practices.

    While the specific job requirements of a DLA Piper position may vary depending upon scope of the job and area of specialty, there are certain universal requirements that are expected of all DLA Piper employees, which include but are not limited to:

    • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed;

    Requirements:

    • J.D.
    • At least 8 years of experience with employment litigation and counseling
    • Licensed in California
    Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements

    Sedentary work:

    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

    Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Pay Transparency


    The expected annual pay range for this position, if hired to work in California is $250,000 - $375,000 per year.

    The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate's geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications.
