    Description

    The Senior Aseptic Processing Engineer

    The new greenfield plant in Rochester, NY is set to onboard 250 new team members and process around 5 million pounds of milk daily, with potential for expansion in the future.

    The Sr. Aseptic Processing Engineer will take the lead in overseeing all aseptic processing technology, offering technical solutions and expertise in processing operations, engineering, and UHT reliability.

    This role involves managing process technology enhancements, technical issue resolution, and engineered design solutions for complex challenges. The individual will be accountable for enhancing the performance, efficiency, and quality of processing technology at the plant.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead strategic technical projects and tasks in a high-paced setting.
    • Act as a key resource and technical authority in UHT processing, covering thermal processes, product quality, and equipment reliability.
    • Create sustainable solutions through continuous improvement methods.
    • Support technical engineers, maintenance, and operations in addressing recurring issues.
    • Collaborate with plant vendors on reverse engineering crucial equipment parts/components, ensuring quality and precise documentation.
    • Manage the planning and execution of processing projects, including budget management, timeline planning, progress tracking, and communication with stakeholders.
    • Supervise maintenance and processing departments, identify root causes of performance issues, and implement enhancements to eliminate variations.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement across all facility departments, leveraging available data tools to drive impactful changes.
    • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience.
    • Experience in aseptic/dairy processing, including UHT technology, homogenizers, separators, filtration plants, mixproof valves, motors, and pumps.
    • Proficiency in updating P&IDs, mechanical/electrical prints (CAD/SolidWorks is preferred).
    • Strong organizational skills and priority-setting abilities.
    • Capability in analyzing and improving operational procedures, policy formulation, and strategy development.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Leadership skills in decision-making, staff supervision, and task prioritization.
    • Familiarity with PLC logic (Rockwell platform), VFDs, and network switches.
    • Understanding of training needs assessment and development.
    • Knowledge of computerized QA, maintenance, and ERP systems.
    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and blueprints.
    • Physical capability to lift 40 lbs., stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work at heights.
    • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
    • Willingness to work various shifts, including off-hours.
    • Familiarity with USDA, State, and Federal regulations in dairy manufacturing is advantageous.
