    Job DescriptionPennant Solutions Group is in search of a Sr Pipe Designer in the Richmond, VA area.

    Role Description:

    Responsible for utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) and various software to model, coordinate, and prepare detailed drawings for mechanical systems.

    Essential Functions:

    • Generate mechanical pipe models using project specifications, design drawings, control diagrams, submittals, RFIs, and modeling software.
    • Incorporate and manage updates to drawings, models, specifications, RFIs, change orders, and submittals throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Collaborate with the build and design team to identify and eliminate construction errors stemming from design flaws.
    • Manage time efficiently and handle multiple projects within tight deadlines.
    • Work with trades, project management, site superintendents, and shop personnel to identify and resolve issues.
    • Generate and communicate information for RFIs specific to projects and trades.
    • Create and manage spools, prefabrication drawings, site installation maps, and control documentation.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience in the mechanical piping and process pipe trade, or equivalent vocational training OR 5+ years of BIM experience using Revit, Fabrication CAD MEP, and Navisworks Manage.
    • Strong multitasking abilities, able to work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screening and potentially additional background checks (e.g., DMV, criminal history).
    • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
    • Availability to work assigned schedules.

    Work Environment:

    • Works in a professional office environment and regularly utilizes standard office equipment.
    • Position may require occasional visits to construction sites.

    Physical Demands:

    • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

    Travel:

    • May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight).

    Preferred:

    • Prior military experience.
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
