    Position Summary: The Communications and Social Media Coordinator is responsiblefor creating captivating content, managing our social media platforms, and contributing to District 75's online presence. The position will also be responsible for the communication of internal and external materials and events. The Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison between the Superintendent's office, and internal and external offices regarding all District 75 citywide events. Performs related work.

    Direct Reports: N/A

    Key Relationships: Superintendent's Leadership Team, District 75 Family Engagement Office, District 75 Instructional Offices, Principals, Assistant Principals, Directors of various offices throughout the District 75 central offices.

    Responsibilities

  • Attend, support, record, and edit content for District 75 Citywide events.
  • Memorialize and curate District 75 media archives.
  • Provide social and digital support to promote and manage events across District 75.
  • Support the management of social media accounts, including scheduling posts, responding to comments, and tracking engagement metrics.
  • Create, publish, and distribute the bi-monthly D75 Connects Newsletter, draft and edit the Superintendent's Weekly and share communication with district staff on specific content.
  • Responsible for ensuring interpretation at required Citywide events.
  • Create engaging content for digital platforms, including blog posts, social media posts for all D75 internal and collaborative events- virtual and in-person.
  • Establish and manage a digital community engagement platform for District 75 families.
  • Manage communications that elevate staff programming, such as DEI initiatives and Employee Resource Groups that increase employee engagement, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Qualification Requirements:

    Minimum

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in "1" above.

    In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, individuals must have two additional years of the experience described in "1" above

    Preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, including accurate and compelling written communication, particularly in social and digital media.
  • Experience in building, growing, and managing social media platforms.
  • Experience in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to advance progress toward and achieve goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and projects.
  • Strong design sensibility and eye for graphic design.
  • Experience with advocacy campaigns that use social media to motivate action.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience including ability to use social media to connect with diverse audiences.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed team player with a history of success.
  • Familiarity with NYCPS programs, special education services and supports, policies, regulations, and systems related to areas of expertise.
  • Salary : $67,810 - $75,000

    (Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
