    The System Safety Officer shall plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive Safety Management Program within all Baptist Health Facilities.

    This individual shall create training material to accomplish safety department objectives and serves as a subject expert in the field of healthcare safety.

    This individual shall perform regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks, and develop strategies to mitigate as well as serves as the departments liaison for communicating with system leadership and team members.

    This position may have additional duties assigned that may be within scope of the role.


    • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or related field required. In lieu of degree, minimum of five (5) years experience in healthcare safety management required.
    • Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, EPA and OSHA compliance experience required.
    • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional highly desired, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards applicable to the healthcare industry, including OSHA, CMS, EPA, DOT and NFPA.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to influence and motivate others to prioritize safety.
    • Proficiency in using computer software for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
    • Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of healthcare safety.
