POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for the handling of products. A forklift operator at United Natural Foods must possess a solid grasp of their equipment, the loads they are transporting, productivity metrics, and safety protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND BASIC TASKS:

Reports to the shipping office at the start of each shift for the daily tasks, vehicle inspection sheet, and restocking discrepancies sheet.
Examines assigned equipment and fills out the vehicle inspection sheet.
Restocks pick slots using the view request screen. If no requests are present, utilizes the manual replenish screen to refill empty or nearly empty slots.
Assists selectors with knockdowns when necessary.
Ensures accurate counts and documents any inventory disparities.
Confirms that the correct items are placed in the appropriate pick location.
Unwraps and disposes of shrink wrap from all knockdowns.
Clears all empty pallets from pick locations and aisles. Sorts the pallets appropriately and neatly arranges them in the pallet staging area.
Operates the equipment safely and efficiently.
Parks and recharges the equipment in its designated spot at the end of the shift.
Carries out tasks in compliance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as applicable for the site.

PERFORMANCE METRICS:

Operating a forklift in line with Company standards and procedures, including quality benchmarks and safety rules.
Maintaining effective communication and coordination with Company staff and management.
Providing assistance and support as required.
Meeting deadlines.

REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE:

Previous experience with Stand Up, Reach Truck, Hi-Lo, Cherry Picker, or OP machinery is mandatory.
Sound understanding of relevant Bakco operations and RF systems.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Background in Warehouse/Operations is a plus but not obligatory.
Experience with system implementation is advantageous.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Familiarity with procedures in other warehouse areas for a comprehensive grasp of all processes.
Proficiency in basic math skills, including arithmetic operations and unit conversions.
Competent in reading and communicating in English.
