THE POSITION:


We have an exciting opportunity for you, from working in the office to getting your boots on the ground, District 6-0 is seeking a full-time Transportation Construction Inspector.

Your expertise and attention to detail will play a crucial role in guaranteeing the excellence and safety of transportation infrastructure projects.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

In this position, your responsibilities will include inspecting various stages of transportation construction work. You will assist in verifying grades, elevations, and stake-outs for structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. Additionally, you will inspect the placement of materials such as cement concrete, bituminous concrete, and drainage materials.

Your role will also involve conducting compaction testing for sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregates using visual non-movement methods.

You will collaborate with department staff, federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the general public to ensure smooth project administration.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for completing and maintaining project documentation, including diary entries, calculations, estimates, work orders, and time extensions, both manually and electronically.

Lastly, you will assist in resolving any field problems that may arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with 30minute lunch.

Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title);
    or:
  • Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles);
    or:
  • Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work;
    or:
  • Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics;
    or:
  • One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology;
    or:
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:


  • This position requires possession of an active noncommercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
