- Manage and supervise accounting department employees, responsible for day-to-day supervision and leadership.
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing and/or posting journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.
- Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
- Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
- Lead collaboration with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through annual report.
- Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
- Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns supporting tax team as needed.
- Actively review and advise on financial/accounting processes.
- Work with office managers on development of annual budgets.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or similar certification preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in accounting, with at least 7 years in a managerial role.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent leadership skills with a dedication to the team's development.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with accounting software system implementation a plus.
- Working Knowledge of Deltek Vision and Vantagepoint a plus.
