    JOB SUMMARY
    Assists with the supervision and coordination of the accounting operations in the hotel. Compiles, reviews, reconciles, prepares and analyzes entries to facilitate the bookkeeping function. Processes financial statements and other reports to ensure accurate, timely information.
    The position assists with the functions of Accounts Receivable, Income Journal, General Cashiering, Taxes, and Internal Controls. In some instances, is responsible for the daily operation of an area (Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, General Cashier). Responsible and encouraged to make recommendations, suggest financial control changes and report SOP and procedural violations.

    JOB SPECIFIC TASKS
    Hotel General Cashier
    Verify deposits of each cashier and document variances daily.
    Document due back and issue in a timely manner.
    Maintain enough change to provide house banks with abundant change during specified times to serve the guests.

    Make deposits to bank in a timely and accurate manner, following proper armored car procedures (if applicable), log deposits daily for preparation of weekly cash report.

    Maintain adequate inventory of cashier supplies including drop envelopes.
    Maintain and issue MOD bank and replenish as necessary.
    House bank issuance and monthly audit; weekly for General Cashier.
    Adhere to MDM standards regarding Petty Cash procedures and controls.
    Communicate deposit information to corporate office(s) daily.

    Income Audit
    Oversee and ensure night audit functions are complete and accurate on a daily basis.
    Verify credit card transmission from prior day is balanced and submitted accurately prior to deadline.
    Input and/or upload data from prior day(s) into journal.
    Verify daily revenue is reported accurately and timely; Validate daily tax calculations and resolve appropriately.
    Audit House Accounts and Group Master Accounts, Guest Ledger and Deposit Ledger on a regular basis.
    Audit coupons and make adjustments accordingly as part of our Coupon Program, Route vouchers to appropriate approvers.

    Accounts Receivable
    Set up House Accounts and A/R Accounts as needed or directed by senior management.
    Ensure all Group/Direct Bill accounts are accurate and mailed within three business days after check out.
    Oversee proper handling of Marriott Rewards redemptions. Reconcile payments and bill discrepancies.
    Bill Third Party (.com) and wholesalers appropriately and timely.
    Maintain an efficient collection process to include an organized filing and tracing system (i.e. call logs); Make collection calls on outstanding accounts to ensure all amounts are collected within 45 days.
    Complete credit references for Direct Bill accounts requesting credit and document file accordingly.
    Coordinate with Sales & Marketing/F&B/Banquets to ensure accuracy of accounts.

    Other General Responsibilities
    Maintain compliance with MDM

    standards/regulations

    and Audit Compliance to ensure safe and efficient operation of the hotel.
    Maintain confidentiality of all information in accordance with MDM standards.

    Embrace and utilize philosophies to include a friendly, service oriented outlook and maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.

    Respond to guest telephone, credit card inquiries and chargebacks in an effective and timely manner.
    Be directly involved with all inventoried balance sheet items (i.e. F&B, Gift Shop, Other, etc.)
    Maintain organized storeroom(s) for long-term record retention of all accounting records.
    Maintain adequate record of sales tax exemption reports as well as State and Local documents.
    Maintain on-site copy of all contracts, legal agreements, licenses, permits, insurance, and other regulatory contract.
    Attends and contributes to periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships between departments.
    Communicate necessary reports and information to corporate office(s).
    Month end journal preparation to assist with closing.
    Balance Sheet Reconciliations as assigned by supervisor.

    Training
    Set priorities regarding training needs within the department.


    Education:
    B.S. in Accounting or Hotel Management

    Related Work Experience:
    At least 1 year of related work experience

    Supervisory Experience:
    Some supervisory experience is required.
